ERTRAC 20 Years Anniversary Conference

The European Road Transport Research Advisory Council (ERTRAC) celebrated its 20th anniversary, hosting an evening reception on 5 July and the anniversary conference on 6 July. ERTRAC is the European Technology Platform (ETP) for Road Transport. EUCAR was one of the founding associations 20 years ago, with CLEPA, the association of the automotive supply industry; EARPA, the research providers association, and CONCAWE, the European fuels companies. Over the 20 years, EUCAR has actively supported together with the stakeholders to develop roadmaps for relevant R&I topics and give guidance to ERTRAC working groups.

On 5 July, the participants were welcomed to the reception by ERTRAC Executive Group members with opening words by ERTRAC Chairman Stephan Neugebauer, BMW Group, and ERTRAC Operational Vice-Chairman, Jean-Luc di Paola-Galloni, Valeo Group. The keynote speakers were: Prof. Helmut List, Chairman and CEO of AVL List GmbH, and Ms Maria da Graça Carvalho, Member of the European Parliament, and Ms Rosalinde van der Vlies, European Commission, DG RTD, Director Clean Planet.

On 6 July, at the anniversary conference, the EUCAR Chair of the Strategic Area Sustainable Mobility, Robert Lassartesses, E-technologies & Advanced Systems General Manager at Renault Group, gave the keynote to open the Energy and Environment session that Michael Weissner, Volkswagen Group Innovation, Mobility Solutions moderated.

EUCAR experts were speaking in several sessions: Tjark Kreuzinger, Senior Manager Safety Research & Technical Affairs at Toyota Motor Europe, leader of EUCAR Expert Group Safety & Human Interaction, participated in the panel on Road Safety that  Luisa Andreone, Collaborative Projects, Automation & Connectivity, at Stellantis/CRF moderated. Mats Rosenquist, Public Partnerships, Volvo Group, moderated the Connectivity and Automation session with Armin Graeter, Digitalisation and Automated Driving, BMW Group, Chairman of the CCAM Association, participating. Catherine Girard, Expert Leader of Strategic Raw Materials & Energy, Renault Group, and Isabelle Schnell, Project & Product Strategy Office, Volvo Group Trucks Technology, participated in the Circularity and Competitiveness panel.
