Battery requirements for future automotive applications (Version 2025)
The purpose of this document is to provide an automotive perspective on the requirement targets for the main traction battery in BEVs in 2030-2035. Based on today’s understanding of the state of the art in battery technologies and their applications, and considering their projected development over the next decade, the expert group has set challenging targets for battery requirements. These targets are intended to serve as values that guide researchers, policymakers, and other interested parties in setting realistic goals that can be achieved within the specified timeframe. To track the fast-paced battery and EV development, the expert group recommends checking, expanding and updating this document version regularly. In this version, the targets are presented in a table for BEVs, with the focus on average mass market vehicles. Specific requirements of high-performance or speciality vehicles are not considered.
