The European Council for Automotive Research & Development (EUCAR) has published the 2020 edition of the project book. The full document is available in electronic format to be able to update its contents during the upcoming year.
The EUCAR project book contains an overview of all the current research and innovation projects in our priority fields for ‘Safe and integrated mobility’, ‘Sustainable propulsion’, ‘Affordability and competitiveness’ and ‘Commercial vehicles’. All our projects are the result of combining forces in order to devise strategies and find solutions for a better society: improving the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the road transport to...
Automotive research and innovation delivering new era of mobility
The future of road transport is being redefined by digitalisation and automation.
This will change how we move from A to B, and the way vehicles are used, sold and owned in the future.
Connectivity will enable entirely new levels of cooperation between all players in the mobility sector, including vehicle operators, road users and authorities.
Brussels, 8 November 2019 – The incredible pace at which the automotive industry is transforming, and the key role that research and innovation (R&I) play in this, was highlighted at the EUCAR conference ‘Navigating a New Era of Mobility’ in...
Together with 92 European associations representing industrial needs for innovation, the European Council for Automotive R&D (EUCAR) has signed a joint statement calling for the development of an ambitious Horizon Europe Programme in order to safeguard Europe’s future industrial leadership.
As EUCAR, we believe that Horizon Europe should boost Europe’s growth, employment and competitiveness while addressing our Global Challenges. Europe can take a lead with a strong pan-European collaborative research and innovation programme.

EUCAR strives to develop powertrain technologies that will advance the technological competitiveness of the European automotive industry and maintain its position as a significant employer...
Brussels, 24 June 2019 – The European Council for Automotive R&D (EUCAR), representing the major European automobile manufacturers in their common research activities, welcomes the progress made towards an agreement on the next EU framework programme for research called Horizon Europe. To address the key challenges of Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) and self-driving vehicles, EUCAR calls for a co-programming partnership across industry sectors and value chains.
EUCAR advocates a co-programming partnership for CAM to leverage public funding with private investments across the value chain.
A co-programming partnership would enable quick and timely research actions;...
More than 60 companies and research centres collaborate in the ENABLE-S3 project. It aims at significantly raising the level of reliability for automated systems while addressing the effort and costs needed for testing. ENABLE-S3 will provide a comprehensive modular verification and validation framework.
The final event of the project was held on 16-17 May 2019 at the Helmut List Halle in Graz, Austria. At this two days’ event, the ENABLE-S3 project partners presented the key results of 3 years of intense research activities in the area of automated systems. Visitors had the exclusive opportunity to gain first-hand insights into demonstrators and meet the people driving this project...
