Project in Focus: TranSensus LCA

The kick-off meeting for the TranSensus project took place on 1 February 2023, in Brussels and was attended by over 60 participants. During the event, Stefan Deix, the Director of EUCAR, delivered a keynote speech in which he emphasized the significance and expectations surrounding the TranSensus project and its contributing experts.
The TranSensus LCA project brings together EUCAR members, suppliers, and research organizations to achieve a common understanding of life-cycle assessments in the automotive industry. The project is particularly relevant for analyzing the environmental impact of zero-emission vehicles, such as battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and fuel cell electric vehicles...

Project in Focus: CEVOLVER

Electrification of road transport plays a significant role to achieve the European Green Deal targets to decarbonise Europe by 2050. In the last years, there have been significant signs of progress in battery electric vehicles (BEVs), nevertheless, society's adoption of these technologies is constrained by user concerns about costs, range, charging times and available charging infrastructure.
The CEVOLVER project has addressed some of these challenges by assessing BEV design with affordable batteries sized for urban use, but still usable for comfortable long daytrips. On the more technical side, CEVOLVER maximises BEVs’ efficiency by optimising the thermal management of the vehicle’s...

Project in Focus: 5G CARMEN

The 5GCARMEN project aims at implementing connected, automated road transport on the Bologna-Munich corridor (600 km, across three EU countries). In the project, 5G mobile networks were used to connect vehicles to each other and to the infrastructure, supporting safer, greener, and more intelligent mobility. In this context, 5GCARMEN provides a platform for vehicles to exchange speed, position, intended trajectories and manoeuvres, enabling cooperative, connected, and automated mobility (CCAM).
The project held its final event on 22 June 2022, showing the outcomes of an automated driving pilot. In this demonstration, vehicles with assisted driving functions were connected using a 5G...
