Energy Storage Global Conference
The fourth Energy Storage Global Conference took place on 19 – 21 October 2021. The event was organised by EASE – The European Association for Storage of Energy, with the support of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. Three hundred fifty participants joined the 2021 Energy Storage Global Conference last week. The event was focused on energy storage due to the role it could play in achieving the decarbonisation targets.
Mr Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight, opened the conference highlighting that energy storage will be a crucial enabler for achieving climate neutrality by 2050. He stressed, “[…]it is essential we develop our vertically integrated energy storage ecosystem in Europe and strive towards open strategic autonomy in this critical sector of the economy […]”.
During the event, representatives from industry, research and policymakers exchanged views on key issues for the storage sector. Representatives from around the world discussed the latest developments in energy storage technologies, regulatory and policy frameworks, and the future storage market. EUCAR was invited to participate, and Luis de Prada presented the EUCAR Perspective on Sustainable Mobility. In this session, he was joined by speakers from the European Commission, the European Parliament, TNO and EASE.
