Horizon Europe (HEU)

Horizon Europe (HEU) is the present EU Framework Programme for research and innovation (R&I). The allocated total budget of 95.5 billion Euro will be invested in R&I project calls from 2021 to 2027. EUCAR members will actively engage and participate in project development for HEU with relevant output for the industry.

HEU is organized in three pillars:

  • Excellent Science
  • Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness
  • Innovative Europe

Within the pillar ‘Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness’ we address climate change, contribute to achieving UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and strengthen the EU’s competitiveness and growth. The relevant Clusters in Pillar 2 are:

Horizon 2020

Horizon 2020 is the EU Framework Programme for research and innovation from 2014 to 2020, with a total budget of €77 billion Euro over 7 years dedicated to three main pillars:

  • Excellent science
  • Industrial leadership (including information and communication technologies, advanced materials, advanced manufacturing and processing)
  • Societal challenges (including transport, energy, climate action and raw materials)
