The 2Zero Partnership calls in 2022 with total funding of 103 M€ closed

The European Climate Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) received 24 project proposals for three topics.

With our joint ambition to reach a climate-neutral continent by 2050, we drive the transition towards using renewable energy for mobility. EUCAR members support this transition with R&I actions, advancing and integrating technologies and solutions for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV). In particular, EUCAR members demonstrate the feasibility of new technologies at a system level in the “Towards zero-emission road transport – (2Zero)” Partnership.

On 26 April 2022, the 2Zero partnership calls closed with a total budget of 103 M€, covering three R&I topics:

  • Modular multi-powertrain zero-emission systems for HDV (BEV and FCEV) for efficient and economical operation;
  • Nextgen EV components: High efficiency and low-cost electric motors for circularity and low use of rare resources;
  • New generation of full-electric urban and peri-urban Bus Rapid Transit systems to strengthen climate-friendly mass transport;

In total, CINEA received 24 project proposals. Out of these proposals, we expect 8 new Horizon Europe projects to start end of 2022 or at the beginning of 2023.

Horizon Europe is the EU framework programme for research and innovation, which succeeds Horizon 2020. Under Horizon Europe, Energy, Climate Action, and Mobility research actions are grouped into Cluster 5.
