Project in Focus: ENSEMBLE Final Event

The ENSEMBLE project is paving the way to adopt multi-brand truck platooning in Europe. Truck platooning links two or more trucks in convoy using connectivity, while multi-brand platooning connects vehicles from different manufacturers. This improves energy efficiency, reduces CO2 emissions while increasing traffic efficiency and safety.

On 23 September 2021, ENSEMBLE presented its technical achievements in a live public demonstration on the Sitges-Barcelona road. Participants witnessed in real-time the platooning of seven trucks in response to different use cases. The trucks demonstrated the technical implementations of platoon functionalities carried out during the project. This multi-brand solution is ready for standardisation and can cope with the different use cases encountered in regular traffic.

The project comes to an end on 31 March 2022 after 46 months of research and piloting activities on multi-brand truck platooning by the leading European truck manufacturers, suppliers, partners and research organisations in Europe.

A final project event is planned on Thursday 17th March 2022, where the focus will be on the potential impacts of platooning, including socio-economic and business aspects. Save this date, and join the event to discuss the results and achievements of the project with high-level experts and speakers. You can find more information on the project and the final event on the project website: https://platooningensemble.eu/final-event.

This project is co-funded under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 769115.
