Project in Focus: LONGRUN

The LONGRUN project develops efficient and environmentally friendly long-distance powertrains for heavy-duty trucks and coaches. This confirms the commitment of the automotive industry to decrease CO2 emissions in road transport. Thirty partners from the automotive industry, research, logistic companies and road authorities, including three EUCAR members (DAF Trucks, IVECO Group, and Volvo Group), collaborate to increase the sustainability of road transport.

The project has designed and implemented three engines and their drivelines, into demonstrator vehicles (i.e.long-distance coaches and long-haul tractor units). The next step is to assess the performance of the innovation under real driving conditions. LONGRUN will run several tests to evaluate the energy consumption, CO2, pollutant and noise emissions.

Despite the delays due to COVID19, the LONGRUN partners have already submitted more than 20 deliverables and achieved two major milestones. You find the deliverables and more information on the project website: https://h2020-longrun.eu/.

This project is co-funded under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 874972.
