EUCAR Council met in Turin to prepare for the challenges ahead

On 21 March 2024, Iveco Group hosted the first EUCAR Council meeting of the year at its Industrial Village facility in Turin, Italy, welcomed by Riccardo Romanini, EUCAR 2024 Chair, Product Development & Engineering Manager, Iveco Group.

The discussion point that topped the agenda was the automotive OEMs’ input for the evaluation process of Horizon Europe, which contributes to the shaping of the following framework programme (FP10), the EU’s flagship programme for research and innovation.

The EUCAR Council is the governing body of EUCAR, bringing together the heads of research and advanced development of the member companies. Together, we provide guidance addressing global societal challenges while strengthening the competitiveness of the European industry.

After the meeting, the EUCAR Council members were invited to visit IVECO Customer Uptime Center which provides efficient assistance 24 hours a day to ensure continuity to customer business and to test some of the IVECO vehicles on the proving ground:

Tigrotto: The Tigrotto is a versatile Daily 4×4 with up to 4300 kg payload. It has a 3.0-litre 180 hp engine and 8-speed automatic gearbox. This version stands out because of its off-road performance and drivability.

eDaily: The eDaily is the electric twin of the iconic Daily, with a broad range of capabilities like the ICE Daily version. Its innovative modular battery technology allows for a range of up to 400km in real-world urban usage. This eLCV is capable of towing 3.5 tonnes, due to its robust truck-based chassis.

IVECO S-eWay: This is the first electric heavy-duty truck manufactured by IVECO,​ with a range of up to 500km, capable of a wide range of missions such as hub-to-hub or hub-to-city. This vehicle is powered by an innovative battery system consisting of nine 82kWh batteries (738kWh), with fast charging up to 350kW.
