Today the European Commission is announcing its call for proposals for the 2013 Work Programme of FP7

9th July 2012 – Today the European Commission is announcing its call for proposals for the 2013 Work Programme of the Seventh Research Framework Programme (FP7), with co-funding totalling €8.1bn.

EUCAR welcomes the opportunities that this call provides to its members, the 14 major European automotive manufacturers, and their research partners.  Automotive research opportunities include the European Green Cars Initiative, ICT for Mobility and Factories of the Future.

EUCAR’s members are currently involved in about 60 EU projects, collaborating with automotive suppliers, universities, research centres and SMEs to leverage broad international expertise and create valuable results for further innovation.  The European Commission’s in-depth consultation and partnering with stakeholders ensures alignment with societal challenges and industrial needs.

As the final call for proposals of FP7, this represents a transition towards Horizon 2020, the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation from 2014-2020.  EUCAR is therefore looking forward to Horizon 2020 building on the foundations laid by FP7, incorporating automotive R&I initiatives which support the sector’s societal goals and competitiveness, and which accelerating the process of project creation.

EUCAR reiterates its call for the proposed budget of Horizon 2020 of €80bn to be at least maintained, to provide the necessary support for EU research and innovation.
